Uncommen: Resolved Mysteriesنموونە
Put on the Armor of God
Spiritual warfare is real. It is not a traditional battle we face when you think of war. It is a variety of things: lost keys, spilled coffee, flat tires, social media. These are distractions that we all face when we are on the path for Jesus. It is a variety of battles unseen, but felt in many ways. When we lead bold lives grounded in sound theology, we face a struggle every day. When we surrender our lives to God, He stands with us in that battle. Trust me. The action begins immediately. Do not be afraid, however. We can use this as a blessing. It is our job to understand the battle is not of this world, but in the world.
Labels are another distraction placed upon us by the evil one. Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m just accident-prone” or “I’m always late” or “I’ve always been overweight” and the final one, “It’s just the way I am”? Sorry, we do not have to be what someone labeled us. We are created in Christ’s image for His purpose, far more than any label. I, too, was caught up in this, when my daughter asked me about my tummy—the brutal honesty of a four-year-old as I carried an extra sixty pounds. My response, “It’s just the way I am,” was when I realized just how wrong I was. Food was my distraction, my vice and a tool of the enemy. It was time to take a stand.
The Apostle Paul writes, “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11, NIV) We must take an Uncommen stand putting on this armor and arm ourselves with the necessary tools: prayer, faith, truth, service, righteousness and our feet. Yes, our feet are essential to moving into action for the Kingdom. Our feet take the Gospel to others and bring the Good News to the world.
