DAY 3 OF 3

“What would you change? What would you do if fear wasn’t standing in front of you?”

1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.”

What would you do if you didn’t have fear? ...big question, right?

I don’t know about you, but lockdown has made me think a lot. Having the time and space to fully go there with past hurt, childhood, friendships, and my mental health. The Lord has been revealing a lot, let’s just say.

One evening in lockdown I became so overwhelmed and saddened at how my anxiety had such a firm grip on me. It was blocking, stopping, and freezing me from doing the things that I wanted and even needed to do.  Even really simple daily things. Sometimes, I can’t quite get there. My wonderful husband (shout out to T Limes) in that moment wept with me and then went on to encourage me to write out all the things I’d do if I didn’t have fear. I was amazed at how many pages I had filled by the end.  A beautiful yet utterly devastating process at the same time. It made me realise how much I wasn’t living in true freedom, how the ugly beast of anxiety was holding me back from being the real Elle.

1 John 4:4, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

I now have this list that I can look at and tackle, because I do NOT want to live like this forever. No, thank you. But the beautiful thing about living a life with Jesus is that you never have to do things in your own strength or your own striving. We get to cast our anxieties on Him. He wants us to use His strength, His power, His courage, and His might. Thank goodness. Sign me up!!!! With Him, we can do anything.

Matthew 19: 26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Today, I’d encourage you to do the same. Write a list of all the things you’d love to do if you didn’t have fear and pray that the Lord will help you and be with you as you conquer those things! I believe in you, and the Lord does even more so!

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Prayer: Jesus, today I pray whatever anxieties are stopping me from living in full, true freedom, I cast them all on You. Have them all. Calm my racing thoughts and restless mind. Help me to be still and know You are my God. And may the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard my heart and mind. Amen.

About this Plan

What's in Your Head? From Elle Limebear

Mental illness can make us feel extremely alone, like we’re the only ones with it, feeling like no one understands. Then shame loads on, self worth cripples, hope dissolves, and vision is blurred. Then we hit rock bottom. But let me tell you my friend, you are NEVER alone. You will never be alone as our God is omnipresent, available, listening, watching over you, and walking beside you. -Elle Limebear
