What's in Your Head? From Elle Limebearنموونە
“Hold on. Help is closer than you know.”
Psalm 91:11, “For he will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.”
Angels. We don’t hear about them much do we? There is a lot of emphasis on demons, but what about the forces of good? I think angels need to be celebrated and talked about more, so I wrote a song about them.
Angels are there to guide, comfort, and provide for us in our suffering.
Fun fact: Angels are mentioned nearly 300 times in the Bible... 300!! There are heaps of epic scenes in the Bible with angels, here are just a few:
- 10,000 Angels came down on Mount Sinai when God gave the law to Moses
- Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her that she was going to have a son
- Angels at the tomb at the resurrection of Jesus
There are so many other stories; they’re real. They’re epic. I’m fascinated by them. I have never seen one, but I desperately want to!
As Christians we can all probably recall some incident in our lives where in times of critical danger there has been a miracle - an almost plane crash, someone so close to getting terribly hurt, a how-did-that-NOT- happen moment, etc. Though we may not have seen angels, their presence could explain why the tragedy didn’t happen.
This was my mum and dad. One evening, my newlywed parents were driving back late to visit their newborn niece. Mum’s brother was also in the back of the car. Tragically, just as they were entering the road, my dad fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a wall. The wreck was so bad that my dad was unconscious, broke a leg, and had the whole car crumble on him; but thankfully he recovered and is absolutely fine now. However, when the fireman arrived they immediately did their thing (obviously), but then one fireman said, “Where is the 4th person? I saw 4 people in the car?” Mum was so confused and told him there were only 3 people in the car; then in that moment realised the 4th person was an angel protecting them. An absolute miracle.
You have no idea what you’ve been saved from.
I sometimes wonder ‘how many times have I so nearly got hurt or been in danger but God has sent His angels to protect me?’ Beautiful thought, ey?
Philippians 4:6 - “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
‘By prayer and petition with thanksgiving,' oh, I love that. Thanksgiving. Gratitude. It changes us from the inside. When we recognise something we’re grateful for and thank God, things shift in us, I’m telling you!
Today, I’d encourage you to think of 5 things you are grateful for and then go on to thank God for each thing.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that You send angels to protect me. Thank You for all those times where You’ve saved me and sent Your angels to fight off the works of darkness. I pray that as I go about my day I will feel Your presence wherever I go. Remind me that You’re close. Help my heart not to be troubled. Today, I will rest in Your peace. You are the best Father, I am grateful for You and what You’re doing in my life. Amen.

About this Plan
Mental illness can make us feel extremely alone, like we’re the only ones with it, feeling like no one understands. Then shame loads on, self worth cripples, hope dissolves, and vision is blurred. Then we hit rock bottom. But let me tell you my friend, you are NEVER alone. You will never be alone as our God is omnipresent, available, listening, watching over you, and walking beside you. -Elle Limebear
