YEAH NAH: Saying Yes to God & No to the World

DAY 3 OF 8

"But Daniel resolved not to defile himself."

Daniel and his peers were faced with a choice that we all face today—what are we going to eat? We’re not taking about physical food here, but what we consume—the music we listen to, the shows we watch, the conversations we are a part of, the parties we go to. We can fill our hearts and minds with things that are attractive, but at the end of the day they leave us empty and unsatisfied. Let's be bold like Daniel! When all those around us choose the appealing things of the world, let's set ourselves apart, and let's choose to fill our hearts with things that please God. Here are a couple of things we can take from the story of Daniel:

1. Daniel decided it would be better for him to go without. He knew God's way was better. What are some things you can "go without" in your life for the sake of pursuing Jesus?

2. All of the young men were faced with the choice to compromise in obeying God, but only Daniel decided in his heart to stand firm. When all those around you choose to go the other way, will you choose God's way?

3. When Daniel set himself apart, God protected and promoted him. There was no better young person in the kingdom than Daniel! You can trust God. He is faithful!
