It's Harvest Timeنموونە
The morning after purchasing my sign, I woke up and prepared to have my time with God. I love spending time with God. It is the one use of my time that I will never regret and over the years, I have learned to guard.
As I began to do my Bible reading, I opened to where I left off the day before, which happened to be John 4:27-38. I read verses 27-34 and continued. Imagine my surprise when I hit verse 35, which reads,
“35 You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. 36 The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! 37 You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. 38 I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.”
Coincidence? I think not.
As I sat in awe of this moment, I began to sense that God was saying that just as a great storm had been upon us, so is a greater harvest. The nature of God is to not allow anything to pass through his hands that he can’t get the glory out of in the end. The greatest glory is when people go from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light because they encountered Jesus.
In a time where we are confronted with fear, loss, anxiety, stress, lies, uncertainty, sickness, and more, many people are seeking ways to find true joy, peace, safety, and comfort. We, the harvesters, get to participate in God being glorified in the darkest of days.
The greater the opposition, the greater the opportunity to present a dying and lost world to a living Savior. It becomes a setup for salvation if we seize it.
What I love about Jesus is that throughout his ministry, we see him seizing the opportunity to harvest. Every moment mattered because he knew every person mattered.
In the natural harvest season is the pathway of reaping for personal gain, but in the spiritual, the harvest is the pathway of reaping for heavenly gain.
What does it look like for you to seize the opportunity for the harvest?
