It's Harvest Time

DAY 2 OF 4

I’ve wanted a ‘Welcome’ sign to sit at my front door for some time. You know the ones that are about four feet tall and have the words ‘Welcome’ vertically written on the wooden plank. I just love how inviting they look, yet I never had the time to go out and purchase one.

One day I had to make a quick run to my favorite decor store to replace a letter wall-piece in my office that had been broken. Some of you may have heard of this store; it’s called Hobby Lobby. It just so happened that when I walked into the door, I was greeted with the most amazing fall setup, including several of those Welcome signs that I have been so patiently waiting for. My thoughts were that since I had been so patient over the years, this was just God’s way of blessing me. Especially, since it just happened to be on sale. So I grabbed the sign along with a few other items, made my purchase, and walked out the store with everything I needed. This, of course, was minus the item that I actually went to the store to get because it was out of stock.

Once I returned home, I took the sign out of the car to set it up at the door in hopes that I would either surprise my husband with a welcome sign or he wouldn’t even notice my unplanned purchase. Either way, I wanted it to feel like it had been there all along. While getting it out of the car, I happened to flip the sign over to grab the other unplanned purchases, that's when I noticed that the other side of the sign said the word, “HARVEST.”

Now, this would normally not be a big deal. I’d seen the word harvest during fall my entire life. Yet this time, I knew God was speaking to me uniquely and clearly because it was the same word that stood out to me on different occasions for several days.

When I saw the sign, I heard God say, “This is the side I want you to show. It is a declaration for this season.”

In excitement and obedience, I sat the new sign up along the side of the door and instantly knew that I was about to enter into a great season of harvest for the Kingdom.

Some of you may feel the same way. We should honestly all be feeling this way. In the Bible, Jesus makes it clear that we are all called to be harvesters. The reality is that our purpose in life is to harvest souls for the Kingdom of God. If and when we get so wrapped up in being a Christian that we can forget to introduce others to Christ, He sends us gentle reminders (like a devotional) to get us back on track.

What does it look like for you to embrace this season of harvesting?

About this Plan

It's Harvest Time

In a time where we are confronted with fear, loss, anxiety, stress, lies, uncertainty, sickness, and more, many people are seeking ways to find true joy, peace, safety, and comfort. We, the harvesters, get to participate in God being glorified in the darkest of days. Let’s learn how to present a dying and lost world to a living Savior. This time is a setup for salvation if we seize it.
