Real Hope: The Psalms

DAY 3 OF 5

Psalm 19 - Five-Senses Relationship

This psalm brings me great joy and reminds me that a relationship with God is a five-senses experience. A full life relationship and experience. It’s about His creation, His Word, and our relationship with Him and how they are all wonderfully interrelated.

Creation declares God’s glory loudly and boldly. We can see and hear and smell and touch the wonder of creation. The skies in the day, the stars we see at night, the beautiful forests and valleys, the smell of the flora, the wonder of the sun—they all declare His work. They all shout of God’s hand in their beauty.

God’s Word is perfect—sufficient, enough. It does not need to be added to or changed. It refreshes, it is trustworthy, it brings clarity, and is more desirous than anything else. It is right, full of wisdom, and brings us joy. His commands give light to the eyes and help us steer away from sin. In keeping the law, there is great reward.

What a wonderful delight is this psalm. So encouraging, uplifting, joyous, one that brings you back to God again and again, seeing what He is like, what He has done, and how our response should be. Wonder and marvel at and with the Creator. Yes and again, yes!

The Word of God, the Bible, is sufficient for all our needs and we can rely on it to steer us in God’s paths. What is more wondrous than that?

And so we can say with David in verse 14: "May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." Amen.

About this Plan

Real Hope: The Psalms

The Psalms are passages that show us how to truly delight in the God we serve, love and worship, even in the midst of chaos and pain. In this plan we reflect on some of our favorite Psalms and are, once again, reminded of God's faithfulness to us.
