Real Hope: The Psalmsنموونە
Psalm 1 - How Blessed Is the Man...
Have you ever heard the saying, “A Bible that is worn and falling apart from use usually belongs to someone who isn’t?” It reminds me of Psalm 1 and the blessings that come to a person who puts God first and delights in His Word. Blessing comes from growth in the plan of God through fellowship with Him and His Word.
When something delights us, we become preoccupied with it and we tend to protect and guard it. This means the man or woman of blessedness is occupied with God’s Word. It is on their mind and in their heart at all times in every situation and area of life. But let’s look at the result for you and me if we follow this way of life. The Psalmist says, “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper…” So, like a tree that is planted by streams of water, this person is stable, well nourished, mature, growing, and fruitful.
It also pictures the concept of growth and time. As it takes time to produce a huge oak, so it takes time to grow in the Word. In our “instant” society, we want and expect overnight transformation and change. But true spiritual strength comes from a long-term, established relationship with God in His Word. While believers have a heavenly position and an eternal inheritance, the experience of our blessings, and our capacity for happiness, is directly proportional to our knowledge and application of God’s Word.

About this Plan
The Psalms are passages that show us how to truly delight in the God we serve, love and worship, even in the midst of chaos and pain. In this plan we reflect on some of our favorite Psalms and are, once again, reminded of God's faithfulness to us.
