Better Words, Better Actions: PraiseLive's 30 Day Devotionalنموونە

Devotional:
Does prayer make a difference?
When I was young, I imagined a game in which there was no gravity. I could jump from a chair and fly through the room. The shock was big, and the crash was hard when I ended up on the floor.
Daily, we're dealing with limitations. Gravity keeps us "on the ground." We cannot fly. Speed has its limitations. Forces of nature cannot be changed: The wind blows and will not stop in a moment. In fact, it is hard to deal with things we don't understand.
Does prayer make a difference? If we cannot explain it, how could it change something? Can sick people be healed without the right medicine? We cannot imagine or understand this.
In Jesus' life, we see that he deals with those limitations. In John 6:16-20, we read that he walks on water. That was and is incredible. Let's take a look at it.
He enters the boat, and the wind stops (we can read that in other books about Jesus' life). Everyone is confused: the disciples, who have known Jesus for a long time; the crowd responds with their human interpretation. Did they see a ghost? How could Jesus have left while there was only one boat, and they left separately?
We cannot explain everything. That often scares us or makes us insecure.
It is not strange for you to not understand the power of prayer. But Jesus is there to comfort you. "Don't be afraid. It is I." Trust in Jesus, also and especially for things we don't understand.
Reflection:
Do you dare to ask him things that seem impossible?
Praise + Prayer:
“Jesus, we come to you with all our doubts and insecurities. We ask you to show us that you are a God of no limitations. The impossible becomes possible when we involve you. Thank you for who you are and for what you have done. Amen.”
Action Idea:
I challenge you today to pray the prayer above and think about someone or something specific you can pray for in the coming days.
