YEET: Things to Throw

DAY 3 OF 4

When was the last time you felt afraid? If you’re like almost everyone else on planet earth, you’ll have moments that are full of fear. In certain times, it seemingly paralyzes you. In other times, it feels like a fiery pit is sitting in your gut. Regardless of how you feel, one thing’s for certain…

You’re not alone in your fears.

Everyone goes through these moments. In fact, God knew we would. In this sinful, fallen world, God knew how much we would desperately need him. So what do you do when you’re afraid?

Let’s look at a story in the Bible to see what they did. Peter was with the Disciples on the boat, and it got dark, and the winds came. It was dark and scary. Then this figure comes walking on the water towards them (it was Jesus).

They thought it was a ghost, and they were gripped with fear! He told them who he was, and Peter said in Matthew 14:28: “Lord, if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water.” Jesus called him out, and Peter stepped out in faith and walked on the water! However, he got distracted by the wind and started to sink.

He called out to Jesus, ‘Lord, save me!’ And Jesus reached out and saved him. What can we learn from this story?

When you’re afraid: step out in faith, draw closer to Jesus, and call on him for help.

When you’re afraid, pray about it! Yeet your fears over to God, because I can promise you that God is bigger and stronger than all your fears. And here’s the deal; he wants you to call on him. When you hand over your fears, God will give you peace. Let’s pray:

God you are so good. Please be with me as I struggle with my fears. I want to trust you more every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
