[Certainty In The Uncertainty Series] The Plan of God and Response of Man

DAY 1 OF 4

God always has a plan

In the course of our lives, we undeniably face many difficulties. The one that I have seen that troubles us the most has to do with trusting God when we do not understand why He is allowing something difficult to happen. The question that immediately arises in our minds is “Why?” Then, we wonder if God has a plan—since all the circumstances seem to provide enough evidence to deny it.

However, as Christians, we know that the Bible states that God is sovereign. He is the supreme authority over all things, and everything is under His control. God’s sovereignty is based upon the premise that God, as the Creator of heaven and earth, has the absolute right and full authority to do or allow whatever He desires.

For some people, this may seem a little harsh, especially if you do not consider that God is not only sovereign but also Love (1 John 4:16), and that everything He does is based upon His essence. It is because He is loving and sovereign that you can definitely trust Him. You are so valuable to Him, that He sent His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Here we see Love in essence and action. Do we need more proof or evidence of the fact that God loves us? Jesus left eternity to come to earth and die on the cross for us.

On top of that, “… we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). All things work together for good: all of them, the good ones and the bad ones. God always has a plan, and He will accomplish all His purpose (Isaiah 46:9–10).

Sometimes He will ask you to do or go through something that does not make sense. His disciples were constantly put in this type of situation, where obedience and trust were the only possible way out of a difficult or inexplicable circumstance. In these days, we will see how they overcame doubt and learned that God always has a plan.
