One Of A Kindنموونە
Have you ever felt like you just didn’t belong anywhere? Maybe you were the new kid in school who didn’t know where to sit when the lunch bell rang. Or maybe all of your friends joined a sports team, but you didn’t quite make the cut during tryouts. Even if you are surrounded by a ton of friends and family, there might be some times where you think that no one really knows who you are. To be honest, I’m sure that everyone has felt a little left out or out of place at some point in their life. When you feel like you don’t belong, everywhere you go never really feels like a good fit for you.
The great thing is, God has already created a place where you totally and completely belong. And this isn’t a place that you have to find on our own, or spend a ton of money trying to get to. You don’t even have to do anything to earn it. God wants everyone who loves and accepts Him to become His family, and He wants to invite you to be a part of it. And once you are a part of God’s family, you’ll always have a place where you belong. No matter where you go in life or what you do, you’ll never have to feel alone or like you don’t have a place where people love you just for being yourself. Ephesians 2:9 (NLT) tells us that we are no longer strangers to one another. Even though you don’t know everyone in the world, you are still connected to people that you’ve never even met before. And you are a part of their family.
But…what does this really mean? What is it like to be a part of God’s family? I mean, sometimes our families can drive us a little crazy. They might even annoy you, or even make you a little angry. We all know that no family is perfect. But God calls us to be like family to one another. He wants us to love and support each other, and help each other feel a little less alone. When we work to make sure others feel like they belong, that can help us to remember that we belong too.
Today, think of some ways that you can be a good family member in the big family of God. What can you do to show the people around you that you care about them? Remember, they don’t have to be big things! Maybe you can smile at everyone that you see, and be sure to say hello to people as you pass by. You could give a compliment to someone that you may not know very well, or maybe even do something nice for the new student at school. Whatever you do, remember to treat them like you would treat your brother or sister. After all, they’re family!
