One Of A Kindنموونە
We all have things in our lives that we think are super valuable. Those things might not look like much to anyone else, but to you, they mean EVERYTHING. It might be a trophy from a tournament that you won, a prize from a tough competition, or even a special gift from a family member. Think about one special thing that you have right now. What do you do to take care of it? Do you throw it on the floor, or do you find a special place for it in your room? Would you care if a friend lost it, or would you take the time to look around and search for it until you found it? When something is important to you, you treat it like it’s priceless.
That’s exactly what God thinks of you. God made you one of kind, unique, and unlike anyone else in the world. There is no one, and I mean no one, quite like you. And because God made you one of a kind, He thinks you are priceless. God doesn’t make mistakes, and He made you exactly the way He wanted you to be. Psalm 139:14 (NLT) reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Did you hear that? That scripture says that the things God makes are wonderful. And that, my friend, includes you. You are wonderful.
But there might be times when you may not feel so wonderful. You’ve probably had days where you didn’t see yourself as valuable, or maybe you didn’t treat yourself the way that you should be treated. Or you may have even said things to yourself that you would NEVER say to anyone else. Instead of being kind to yourself, at times you may have crossed the line and started to be cruel. When that happens, it can be hard to think of yourself as priceless. Even worse, it may cause you to make some less than great decisions.
God doesn’t only want us to be nice to ourselves, he wants us to move from being cruel to being kind. And this means more than just giving yourself a good pep talk every morning. Whenever you feel like saying something less than kind about yourself…remind yourself of how God sees you. If you feel like you’re nobody special, remember that God has made you one of a kind. If you ever start to think of yourself as worthless, say to yourself that God sees you as absolutely priceless. This isn’t going to be an easy process, and you probably won’t change overnight.
Today, spend some time in prayer thanking God for not only who He is, but also for who YOU are. Take some time to think about something that you love about yourself, and say a special thank you to God for making that unique part of yourself.
