A Compelling Truth: A 30 Day Journey through Galatians with Rob Stanmoreنموونە
DAY 14
On an early morning in December 2018, Amanda and I were on a moped while in Noosa going to the National Park. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a car went straight through a stop-sign and blocked the intersection in front of us.
I went straight for the brakes, but it was too late. We both went over the handlebars, across the bonnet of the car, and landed on the other side of the road.
Thankfully, Amanda was okay with only some slight scratches. I found myself walking away only with some scratches and a knee injury.
For the months following, it required discipline and consistency to see the physiotherapist and undertake the stretches needed to recover movement in my knee.
I want to encourage you today that it is the same with the word of God. No matter what has ever happened to you, it can drive you to discipline and consistency to uncover what God is revealing to you in his Word.
For a lot of us, keeping to this discipline doesn’t come naturally.
God speaks through scripture into our present moment and gives us the strength and energy to daily face what is in front of us .
What do you find yourself expecting from the world that you can only receive from the Word?
The world attempts to offer a band-aid, where the Word can offer you full healing through daily surrendering your condition to Him .
Take a moment to think about how you read scripture. I want to encourage you to bring more intentionality to your reading. Start reading with a highlighter in your hand and highlight passages that stand out to you. It will set your expectation and readiness to find what is relevant to apply. Right now you are reading this on the YouVersion app, so it might even be using the ‘Highlighter’ tool more actively today as you go through scripture.
Question
How can you grow in your discipline of reading the word?
Scripture
