COMMUNITY
We have never been as easily connected as a species as we are right now. We can know seemingly everything about anyone simply by swiping through a couple of apps on our phone. And at the same time, we have never been more deeply lonely than we are right now. That’s because liking a post or flipping through someone’s story does not give us the same level of connection we were designed for. We are hard-wired as social creatures, and we crave real closeness with at least a few trusted people. Unfortunately, that kind of community takes work…it takes a risk. It’s safe and easy to engage with a bunch of people on social media, but it’s difficult and messy to really dig in and get to know (and be known) by a few close friends.
Because we naturally gravitate towards what is easy, authentic relationships are another thing we can quickly drift away from. If you don’t put in the effort to connect with people, to talk with them about meaningful things, to find out how they’re really doing, and to pray for (and with) them, you’ll find yourself drifting towards isolation. You may be hyper-connected online, but deep in your gut, you’ll feel lonely. So, who do you need to reach out to today? What conversation(s) do you need to have? What step can you take towards a real, authentic community? Maybe you need to text your coach, DM that friend you haven’t heard from in a while, or just send the “can we talk” text to someone you need to reconnect with. Whatever it is, read these Scriptures, and then don’t get up until you’ve taken the first step towards that connection.

About this Plan
We all have a tendency to drift. Like boats on the water, if we aren’t anchored to something, we’ll slowly drift off course. When it comes to our relationships with God and with others, there’s a constant pull to go off-course, to wander into apathy and isolation, and to drift away until we find ourselves miles from where we wanted to be.
