Drifting

DAY 1 OF 5

PRAYER

One of the easiest people to drift away from is God. You can’t see him. He doesn’t blow up your lock screen with notifications. And most of the time, he doesn’t shout from the heavens in a booming voice. So, if we just go about our lives not really paying attention, we can quickly get to a place where we ignore God for days at a time…then weeks…then we can’t remember the last time we talked to or even thought about him. (No judgment…I’ve been there)

To fight this natural tendency to drift, we have to make prayer a priority. And when something is truly a priority, you make whatever adjustments are needed to ensure it happens. Maybe it’s waking up a little bit earlier to get some time with God before running out the door. Maybe it’s setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to shout out a quick prayer a few times a day. Maybe it’s setting the reminders on your YouVersion plans to help you not forget. Even brief times with God every day over time will help keep you anchored and talking to him regularly will help you avoid drifting.

About this Plan

Drifting

We all have a tendency to drift. Like boats on the water, if we aren’t anchored to something, we’ll slowly drift off course. When it comes to our relationships with God and with others, there’s a constant pull to go off-course, to wander into apathy and isolation, and to drift away until we find ourselves miles from where we wanted to be.
