2 Samuelنموونە
Questions to consider:
- What does this passage teach you about God?
- What does this teach you about humanity and the world?
- 1 Samuel ends with a great battle, the defeat of the Israelites, and the death of Saul. 2 Samuel picks up right after that battle. What is significant about David’s interaction with the Amalekite? What was different in the Amalekite’s testimony than in the account of 1 Samuel 31:4-7? Why would the Amalekite tell a different story? What would you have done had you been in the Amalekite’s shoes?
- David, after hearing this terrible news, laments over the death of Saul and Jonathan. Why do you think that is, since Saul hunted him for the past several years? What would you have done had you been in David’s shoes?
Let’s pray:
Father God, I pray that you shape my heart to be caring and empathetic to the pain and loss of those around me. Even if those pains come from people that I don’t like, I pray you would help me have compassion and give forgiveness as David did toward Saul.
