Great Adventurers (Week 2)

DAY 2 OF 7

Day Two - Listen and Follow

Welcome to our Great Adventurers Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey and look at some of the Great Adventurers in the Bible.

Today we are going to be looking at Joshua and ‘The Battle of Jericho’.

READ:

‘The Battle of Jericho’ in the Beginner's Bible (pages 132-135) or in Joshua 6:1-20.

Joshua loved God and wanted to hear what God had to say to him. Let's have a look at what God told Joshua….

  • God’s people were to march around the Walls of Jericho once every day for six days.
  • On the 7th day, the people had to march around Jericho seven times.
  • After marching around Jericho seven times, the Israelites had to blow their trumpets and give a big shout!

When the people gave a big shout the walls fell down!!!  The people saw that “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”

Because Joshua loved God he wanted to spend time with God and listened for all that God wanted to say to him.

Joshua followed what God said and led his people into the Promised Land and helped them to trust God more.

ASK:

How can you spend time listening to God today?

Maybe you can talk to your grownup about how they spend time listening to God.

REMEMBER:

‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”’ (Matthew 19:26)

SAY:

I'm an adventurer. I am bold. I am strong. With the word of the Lord, I will follow. Wherever you lead, I won't stop. I've been set free! Amen!

About this Plan

Great Adventurers (Week 2)

In the Bible, we see that through ‘Great Adventurers’ God has changed the world around them for good. God can take the seemingly bad things and turn them for good. We will follow in the footsteps of these ‘Great Adventurers’ and see how God, through their boldness, changed the world around them! This week we’re looking at the story of Joshua and our memory verse in Matthew 19:26.
