DAY 9 OF 11

God’s Good Rules

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.

After wandering around for 3 months, the Israelites arrived at Mount Sinai for a temporary stay before continuing their journey to Canaan. One day, God asked Moses to come up to the top of Mount Sinai as God wanted to give him the Ten Commandments for the Israelites.

The Ten Commandments are as follows:

1. Do not have other gods beside the One true God;

2. Worship only God;

3. Use His name with respect;

4. Keep the Sabbath holy;

5. Honour your parents;

6. Do not murder;

7. Always be faithful to your husband or wife;

8. Do not steal;

9. Always tell the truth;

10. Be happy with what you have, do not be jealous.

God gave rules so that they knew how to live and to differentiate between right and wrong. It was God’s way to protect His people. Likewise, your parents have rules at home because they love you and want what is best for you.

Prayer

Dear God, thank You for Your word and for showing me who You are. I want to obey You wholeheartedly. Amen.
