DAY 5 OF 9

A Leprous Heart

Psalm 51:2

Wash away all my guilt and make me clean again.

Leprosy is a highly contagious skin disease. A leper is a person that suffers from leprosy. During those days, a leper was considered as an unclean person and he was not allowed to mingle with other people. They were also considered unworthy to approach the presence of God.

When a leper got healed, some of the things he had to do to be clean again were shaving his hair, washing his clothes and washing his flesh in water. After he was cleansed, he could approach the presence of God by bringing his offering to be presented on his behalf by the priest.

We need to guard our hearts so that we will not have a “leprous” heart. When you start to feel jealous with your friend, or when you start to get easily angry with your little sister, or when you show some bad attitude to your parents or teachers, those are the signs of an unclean heart. It makes you away from God’s presence. Before your unclean heart turns into a “leprous” heart, repent and come to God. Ask Jesus to forgive you and cleanse your heart daily.

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for forgiving my sins and helping me to always keep my heart clean. Amen.
