Hidden Treasure
Wouldn’t you love to find a buried treasure some day? Like, you’re outside, just walking along, when you spot something shiny sticking out of a weird patch of grass. You look closer and start digging a bit. Soon, you discover a chest filled with gold and jewels! How fun would that be?
Guess what? That’s not just for daydreams. There are real treasures inside you just waiting to be found. Watch Quizman for more on that!
For real! God is the one who made you. His fingerprints are all over you. And glimpses of God are the best treasure the world’s ever known. So give your best to Him! That’s how you worship!
There was a woman in the Bible (you’ll read about her in the book of John today) who gave everything she earned to worship Jesus. She gave her best. She poured out an expensive perfume, which represented her financial security, on Jesus as a lavish act of worship.
We do gather as the church to worship God. But that’s not it! Worship isn’t something we go to. Worship is something you take with you. Worshipers are who Jesus’ followers are.
Use the unique way God made you to worship Him. Use the gifts and treasure inside you and around you to worship. Bring your best to Him.
Ask yourself: What unique treasure can you worship God with? How do you personally show love to God?
Challenge yourself: Worship and thank God for the way He made you. Look into a mirror. Usually, we look in a mirror to look for anything that’s wrong. A stray hair. Broccoli in your teeth. Today, look in the mirror and say, “God, thank You for choosing to make me. Help me to find the good gifts You’ve placed inside me. I praise You for the way You made me. I choose to use everything in me and around me to worship You.”
Pray: God, thank You for everything about You. Thank You for hiding treasure inside me. Help me to discover it. I reject any lies that say I’m not valuable. You made me, and that means I’m Your treasure with Your treasure inside me to share with others. I worship You for that! In Jesus’ name, amen.
