Buckling The Belt Of Truth

DAY 2 OF 7

THEME: Buckle up the belt of truth regarding your PRESENT RESURRECTION LIFE.

The belt of truth is put on by believing (or faith) in what God says. All of the truth found in Scripture is included. But if you believe a lot of general truths, but don’t believe in what the Bible says about YOURSELF, it would be like leaving your house with your belt on— but not buckled. Every day we are in a spiritual war zone. You’ll be at a great disadvantage if your belt isn’t buckled!

In Day 1 of this plan, I suggested that you ask God to help you believe TRUTHS about YOURSELF as found in the first part of Ephesians.

Here’s an example:
We find in Ephesians 1:1 that Paul wrote to ‘God’s holy people’ (NLT/NIV). You may say, “I don’t feel very holy.” But here is what Paul was saying: You have been MADE HOLY by Christ. In God’s sight, you have become holy. That’s because of something else in that verse: “IN Christ Jesus”. The New Testament uses this phrase in speaking of our UNITY with Christ. (See John 15.)  Then in verse 3 GNT translates: “In our union with Christ he has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world.” All of that should give us a lot to pray about!

Let’s practice by praying like this: Lord, These verses say I am joined in unity with Christ. Please make that real to me! It says that You have made me holy. Lord, help me to understand this! And then it says that Christ has ‘blessed’ me “with every spiritual blessing …” Lord, help me to wrap my mind around this truth!

Read Colossians 3:1-4 again. Let’s buckle the belt of truth for those verses! Pray like this: Lord Jesus, I believe that I have (in a spiritual way) died with You. I ask you, Lord, to make this spiritual truth real to me!  And these verses say that You have raised me to new life. Help me to see my heavenly life in unity with you as something that is real. Help me to live in and meditate on the reality of my unity with You in heaven.

About this Plan

Buckling The Belt Of Truth

Belts work a lot better if they are buckled, don’t they! It is similar with the belt of truth. Vaguely believing that the Bible is true means that you at least have the belt of truth in your belt loops. But is it buckled? The theme of this seven-day study is that one buckles the belt of truth by fully believing the amazing things God says about YOU.
