Keys for Kingdom Living | Opening the Heavens
Have you ever been outside and suddenly rain started to downpour and you got soaked? That’s what happens when God opens the heavens over your life. In scripture, open heavens are called God’s good treasure and represent God’s blessings. The Bible offers three keys for opening the heavens.
Prayer, the first key, always precedes the opening of heaven and the descending of the Holy Spirit. If you really want your circumstances to change, learn to pray. The second key is giving. Tithes and offerings open the heavens. It’s a spiritual principle: you have to give in order to receive. The Bible tells us to test God and see if we don’t have an open heaven after tithing. It’s a heart issue with God. God wants you to acknowledge Him first and His blessings in your life. The third key for opening the heavens and receiving God’s blessings is obedience. Conversely, disobedience stops the flow of God’s blessings. Obedience is simply trying to hear God before you make a decision, and then being willing to back up if you miss it.
Do you want to live under an open heaven—under God’s blessings? Start praying over your marriage, your future spouse, your finances, your children and any other areas where you’re struggling. Then begin putting God first through your giving. Finally, be open to hear God before you take any action in your life. If you do these three things, you can expect God to open the heavens and release a downpour of His blessings on your life.
