Keys for Kingdom Living | Honoring the Sabbath
When life is chaotic and hectic, it’s all too easy to give into the temptation to worry and be anxious about things over which you have no control. You get tired and emotionally spent, your thinking deteriorates, your emotions become numb and you become indecisive. But even in the midst of life’s busyness, God wants you to live in peace and be at rest. For this reason, God created the Sabbath as a day for you to set aside time to come to Him, take His yoke and give Him your burdens.
God never intended for you to carry the burdens of life on your shoulders. You must be honest with yourself and ask, “Which area of my life do I not have peace in right now?” This is the area of your life that God wants to take from you. When you intentionally step away from the daily activities of the week and seek God’s face and give your burdens to Him, you are healed, restored and once again, filled with hope.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of your busy life, it is vital for you—physically, emotionally and spiritually—to set aside time to sit at God’s feet, hear Him speak and find rest. Don’t let life sweep you up into its craziness. Start honoring the Sabbath, and make a purposeful decision to meet with God.
