Wisdom Is Callingنموونە
The Key to Wisdom
In Proverbs 9:10, Solomon hands us the key that unlocks the door of wisdom. That key is the fear of the Lord.
What is the fear of the Lord? It is recognizing who God is and ascribing to Him the respect, reverence and authority He is due. A person who truly fears the Lord submits to Him and obeys Him. It is an attitude of submission and obedience to God. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” This means that it is the first step toward wisdom. It means that trusting God is the foundation of wisdom. Wisdom is built upon the fear of the Lord.
Wisdom is the result of a decision. That decision is a commitment of the heart to fear the Lord. Some ask the question, does wisdom equal Christ? What is the relationship between wisdom and Christ? Is it possible to acquire true wisdom apart from Christ? God has revealed Himself and His wisdom in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. Christ is God, and He embodies the very wisdom of God Himself. When we study Christ’s short life here on earth, we see a life that modeled perfect wisdom. Scripture is very clear: all of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ (Col.2:3). There is no wisdom nor knowledge apart from Him, which means that wisdom does, in fact, equal Christ.
