Wisdom Is Callingنموونە
Wisdom's Great Value
In these verses, wisdom lists her qualifications—the attributes that make her so valuable and desirable. She explains why she is the voice to which people should listen. She also proceeds to list her references. Those who reject wisdom may spurn and mock her, but every individual who knows her personally will testify of her value, trustworthiness, and mighty power. All who walk wisely are character references for wisdom.
We can more fully see the great glory of this chapter when we understand the teaching of the New Testament: wisdom personified is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the very embodiment of wisdom—perfect and absolute wisdom. Wisdom is found in Christ.
The emphasis of this passage is the great value of wisdom’s words. Jesus Christ is the Word of God. He is the full expression, full communication, and full revelation of all that God is, and all that God says. The description of wisdom’s words in this passage can be applied not only to the written record—the Bible—but also to God’s living Word, His Son Jesus Christ. Christ is all these things: excellence, righteousness, truth. Nothing in His holy life was twisted or perverse. He is completely faithful, reliable, and trustworthy.
All who have genuinely received and experienced Christ know that He is without fault. And all who have knowledge of Him have no doubt that He is completely right. He is the most valuable treasure of our lives.
