Alive: Lent Devotionals

DAY 35 OF 47

Alive: God the includer

A Muslim once said to me, “If Christians would stick to the Bible, we would live in a far better world.” His comments were telling. It’s an example of how our society today is looking for authentic Christianity. People are looking for those who not only carry the name, but whose lives reflect the life of Jesus.

We need to remember that we’ve been called to speak the gospel, live the gospel and show the gospel. To be faithful in consistent service to the orphan, weak, poor and vulnerable. The gospel is holistic – and it’s not about us. It’s about Jesus, and doing exactly what He would do. And He came to serve.

The creator of the universe came to seek relationship with us. He wants to include us in His work. It humbles me to think that the God of the universe is willing to include me in His plans, and that I can serve Him as I reach out to the marginalized in our society. Will you?

Prayer:

Father in Heaven,

I pray that in You we would find a good shepherd that leads us to still waters. And that we would discover the God of relationship and intimacy; the One who loves us with an everlasting love regardless of our condition. Amen.

About this Plan

Alive: Lent Devotionals

These Lent devotionals will take you on a journey to discover the abundant life that Jesus offers. The world is full of noise and distraction – bright lights that lead us away from the depth of life, keeping us in the shallows. The kingdom of heaven – the kingdom of life and love and joy – is closer than we think. Let us grasp it with both hands.
