Alive: Lent Devotionals

DAY 37 OF 47

Alive: Peace

Violence and hate plague our planet, unsettling our souls. How can Christians be equipped for peace-building? I found vital answers in Paul's letter to the Philippians, when he deals with two symptoms of lacking peace: disunity and anxiety.

Peace is sourced in God through prayer: “in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Peace of God surpasses comprehension: “peace is better than all understanding.”

Peace of God shields heart and mind: “the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Peace is sustained by Jesus Christ: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Prayer:

Father God,

Today may I seek and find peace in Your fellowship with God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. May God's outrageous peace keep my heart and mind secure, and soak my relationships with fellow humans and the whole of creation. Amen.

About this Plan

Alive: Lent Devotionals

These Lent devotionals will take you on a journey to discover the abundant life that Jesus offers. The world is full of noise and distraction – bright lights that lead us away from the depth of life, keeping us in the shallows. The kingdom of heaven – the kingdom of life and love and joy – is closer than we think. Let us grasp it with both hands.
