Recognize God’s Open Doors
Wouldn’t it be easier if God sent a burning bush or a neon sign to tell you what to do? No one wants to miss His best but sometimes we do because of our spiritual blindness and deafness. We are dulled by the culture we live in.
There are ways to know if God is opening a door of opportunity.
I confessed to my friend recently that I ended last year feeling scattered and tattered in my mind. I felt empty of purpose. I became overwhelmed with goals I had put on myself for the New Year. In my high achieving state, I realized I was also hiding behind some personal hurt and offenses which created a barrier for me to hear God’s voice clearly.
It was hard to be open about my struggles with her. However, it was clear I had let self-doubt hinder my walk with the Lord. It doesn’t feel warm and fuzzy to tell you, but upon reflection, I understood it to be true. After putting a stop to all my mental chatter, I asked God, “What would you like for me to do?”
God’s response was loving: “Trust Me.”
When you acknowledge God, by faith, and trust Him for what only He can do, His voice is heard over your doubt and fear. However, Satan will do everything he can to block God’s voice. Satan loves to thwart you and throw you off course. He is the master of deception and wants you to fall away from God. He will simply lure you with doubt, pity and shame. Satan is very aware of what you carry and knows it’s from God. He will stop at nothing to get at you. He also fears the passions God has put inside of you.
God is always speaking and wants our full attention. Often we miss God because we expect Him to create drama or provide a sign for us to acknowledge Him and to hear His voice. Although He’s certainly capable of doing so, He owes us nothing. As we’ve learned from the Bible, He uses many means to reach us. We must trust and acknowledge Him. Look to Him with open eyes and have open ears to hear Him clearly and an open heart to receive.
