Drama (And How to Deal)

DAY 1 OF 5

Friendship Drama Sundae

What do you think makes the best ice cream sundae? Think about the flavor of ice cream. The fudge or other syrup you’d put on it. Any other toppings?

What if your friendships were like a sundae? Do you have friendships that are full of kindness, trust, shared humor, and the like? If yes, they’d make one tasty sundae!

But the video you’re about to watch? Well, this video shows what friendships full of drama and tension would look like if they were a sundae. Check it out.

Um, canned meat and thumbtacks? Sounds about as delicious and fun as a friendship full of arguing and mocking.

For the next four days, you’ll learn all about relationship drama. First, you’ll learn a bit more about friendship drama—and how to deal with it.

Then, you’ll learn about, um, more-than-friends drama. That’s right. The drama that can be caused when you try to be someone you’re not just to get the attention of someone you have a crush on.

Finally, you’ll learn how to deal with the kind of drama that pops up in families sometimes.

So, for today, take a good look at Colossians 3:13-14. The videos you’ll be watching are all using the NLT version, so if that helps you, you might want to switch to that version for this plan.

Ask yourself: Do I ever cause drama in my friendships? How can I be a source of love instead? How can Colossians 3:13-14 help my relationships to have less drama?

Challenge yourself: Write out Colossians 3:13-14 on a piece of paper. (Again, the videos in this Bible Plan are using the NLT version of the Bible. You might want to choose that version.) Put it in your closet or on top of a drawer where you keep your clothes. Every time you see it, and when you get dressed, ask God to help you to remember to clothe yourself with love.

Pray: God, thank You for helping me to make friendships. Help me to be a source of love, not drama, in my friendships. Thank You for giving us Your Son, Jesus, the greatest friend ever. Help me to be more like Him every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
