Find Freedom From the Draw of Food: Renew Your Mind for Lasting Changeنموونە
We Have Freedom To Choose
We can get so wrapped up in our struggle and so frustrated with the process of our weight that we never really gain much perspective at all. We're too close to consider our weakness with food as an opportunity for God to display His strength. But, just maybe, He wants us to recognize our obstacles as catalysts for seeing His grace revealed in our lives in a real, personal, and powerful way!
Paul is known to have lived with a constant hardship he called his "thorn in the flesh." In fact, three times he asked God to take it from him, but God had another plan. Paul eventually grew to the place that he boasted of his weaknesses because he recognized them as opportunities for Christ's power to be displayed in his life.
Talk about perspective! Instead of seeing his hardship as a curse, he began to look at it with new eyes. His weakness was just the platform to allow God to shine more brightly in his life!
Too often, we expect to fail. We just assume that any success we experience with our weight will be fleeting. Essentially, we admit defeat as a foregone conclusion. It's not if I gain the weight back, but when I gain the weight back.
But, here’s the thing, our life with Christ is a life of decision. We choose to trust God because we believe His Word, which says He loves us, His plans are good and that He knows what’s best for us. If that’s really the case, then we can make a conscious decision to trust God with our food struggle as well. We are free to choose what we eat and we are free to make thoughtful choices.
That doesn’t mean that every food you put in your mouth from this day forward has to be written on a list that’s tacked to the front of your refrigerator. No, it means that you are mindful of your daily choices. Instead of living by a list of approved foods, you exercise your freedom in Christ to make sensible choices all along the way. What about it? Wouldn’t you love to experience a shift in perspective in your weight journey? It’s God’s sincerest desire that you experience freedom in Him.
