The Heart of God

DAY 6 OF 7

  Merry Christmas

We usually share Christmas with our families. Why is that? Greeting cards today are deep, expressive, and touching, conveying what Christmas means to us. We could just send a card.

Or a gift? Our gifts can be very personal, reflecting how much our relationship with the recipient means. We could express our love, goodwill, and holiday joy by sending a special gift. Well, simply put, to friends we send cards. And to special friends we send gifts. But to the ones we really love, we go personally.

Think about Timothy! Paul loved him like a son, so he and the elders gifted him in person by laying hands on him (1 Tim 4:14 and 2 Tim 1:16).

Jesus gifted us in the same way through His Spirit because of His great love for each of us! John 14:18 gives us great comfort in Jesus’ coming personally to gift us with His presence. He assures us, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you” (NKJV).

The Bible tells us that when Jesus “… ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men” (Ephesians 4:8, NKJV).

Praise God, that’s why Jesus came personally, because He really loves us. Aren’t you glad? “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift” (2 Cor 9:15 NKJV)!
