Devotional with Jacobo Ramos (Gateway Worship Español)
I can still remember when I first started riding my bike by myself as a kid. The freedom I felt as I roamed around the neighborhood was amazing. I loved everything about bike riding, except for the fact that my mom used my biking skills to get some of her errands done.
One day, my mom asked me to take something to my aunt’s house, which was not far away. As I was going out, I saw my brother’s bike. It was a bit too big for me, but that didn’t stop me from taking it! On the way to my aunt’s house, I felt awesome. When I arrived, my aunt asked me, “Are you sure you can ride that bike?” I looked at her with sheer confidence and said, “You know I got this!” (She wasn’t convinced.)
As I was coming back home, I found myself going down a hill faster than expected. All of a sudden I lost control of the bike. I flew through the air and hit my head on an old fence. When I tried to get up, blood trickled down my forehead. I felt paralyzed and didn’t want to move. Was God mad at me for taking my brother’s bike? How was I going to go back home after this?
Before I could do anything, someone came and grabbed me by the hand. It was a friend of the family, and he said, “Let’s go. We need to take you back home.” He picked up me and the bike and led the way back home. As we were getting closer, I wasn’t really sure how my parents were going to react. But when they saw my injuries, they quickly exclaimed, “Are you alright? Let’s get you some help!”
Something happened that day. My eyes were opened to the powerful truth that pure love goes deeper than anything I could go through. It is deeper than my own mistakes.
Many of us have the idea that every time something bad happens to us, it’s because God is mad at us. However, the Father’s love runs deeper than our past, our failures, our fears, and even our mistakes. Nothing can separate us from His love.
