Entrance to the Kingdom on God’s Terms – Not Ours

Matthew 7:21
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

Prayers, using the name of Jesus, religious rituals or service attendance don’t mean we know Jesus, or more importantly, the he knows us.

Why is our focus on salvation from our side of the equation?

Whether we know Jesus, have found Christ or begun a relationship with God, could all be exercises in self-deception, albeit well intentioned.

Does Jesus know us?

Have we met his conditions for entrance to the kingdom of heaven (beyond church membership)?

The will of the Father requires that we surrender our own will, not just our sin. “Not my will, but your will be done - in my life, on earth, as it is in heaven,” becomes our prayer. Jesus wants to know us – on his terms not ours.

Father God, your will be done in my life, for your glory.
