Love First
Matthew 22:37-40
“…‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.”
The heart of the scriptures is God’s message of love. We are to love God with all that we are and all that we have. To do that means that God becomes the focus of our lives and the reason we live.
Can we say we live like that?
To love God goes beyond believing in him and beyond serving him, to the emotions and motivations level of our being. To love our neighbor as ourselves changes how we live with those around us. When we love our neighbors first, we live selflessly and sacrificially. Loving God centers our lives, his love flows through us to others.
Jesus, you are love. As I respond to your love today, love others through me, for your glory.
