Legacy of Faith
Genesis 50:25
“And Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath and said, ‘God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.’”
Joseph believed that God’s inheritance for Israel was not in Egypt, but in Canaan. He had seen God’s promises fulfilled in his lifetime. Now he was claiming God’s promises for future generations. He wanted his bones buried in the Promised Land.
Are we looking ahead to God’s promises and inheritance for our descendants?
The impact of our faith and prayers reaches far beyond our lives. Our spiritual legacy is part of God’s eternal legacy. Joseph’s faith statement is recorded in Hebrews 11 as a reminder that in God’s kingdom our faith legacy lives on.
Lord Jesus, I pray for my children and my future grandchildren and descendants, that they would live by faith and hold on to your promises and that you would be glorified in their lives, and choices.
