Self-Harm And God's Love

DAY 2 OF 5

"Getting Rid of the Shame"

The reason we are trapped in a cycle of self-harm is that we are trying to solve our own problems. We are hoping to get rid of the different feelings of hopelessness, isolation, abandonment, rejection, confusion, guilt, and shame.

The truth is we need to give those feelings over to God. We have to start trusting that he not only loves us but wants something better for us. Change may not happen over night but God will walk with us and slowly change us. He will even help us find something good in the mess of our pain.

When we start believing that God’s love is more powerful than the feelings of insecurity and a lack of worth then we will be on the path to changing how we see ourselves. In order to do this, we must be reminded just how much God loves us and how far he went to pay the price for our sins. He not only offers forgiveness but desires to help us change our ways.
