The Gift of Salvation
Imagine a birthday party where all your friends come and bring you beautifully wrapped gifts, but you leave them on the table and never open them. That would be crazy!
Not only do you not get to enjoy those wonderful gifts, but they don’t really become yours until you receive them and open them, until you take them from your friends.
We can think about the gift of salvation the same way. God offers us this free gift of salvation, but it’s not ours until we reach out and take it, until we believe and acknowledge He is our Savior through prayer.
Our believing is the way our hearts reach toward God to take His gift of salvation for our own. Even though we can’t see it happen, we can trust that is what is happening. God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift.
If you have received God’s gift of salvation, be praying for those in your life who haven’t yet received it.
If you personally have not received God’s gift but would like to right now, pray this with me:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your gift of salvation. I know that I mess up and can never do enough on my own to get right with you. I receive your gift of salvation now. Help to me to follow after you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
If you still have questions, find a trusted adult who loves Jesus and ask them about this scripture. They can help you continue to learn about what God has done for you!
