The victory is ours now

Friends of Jesus in every generation, the victory is ours right now. We don’t have to wait to be thrilled by the spectacular events that will accompany our returning Champion. We are already raised with Christ. We can set our hearts on things above. We can set our minds on things above. We can have big hopes, big plans, and big dreams for ourselves and our children. We can rise above anything that is unworthy of the living Lord of everything and beneath the dignity of victorious Christians.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” (Colossians 3:12-14).

Spirit of the living Lord Jesus, fill our hearts with love. Thank you for making us your chosen people. Take charge of our thoughts and help us control our impulses. Help us defeat lust, evil desires, greed, rage, lies, and anything else that should be discarded remnants of our old selves. Help us put on our new selves, renewed in the image of our Creator where Christ is all in all. Help us wear love for others outwardly like Jesus did. Love creates unity. This is our faith. This is our hope. This is our victory. Amen.
