Day 7 - A New Season Comes
Many people knew of John Bevere, but I felt intimidated by his popularity and was sure that he was very knowledgeable about the Bible. During the second night of our annual leadership conference at Inspire Church, John preached on Breaking Intimidation. It really hit home and literally slapped me in the face. After his message he asked if anyone wanted to overcome intimidation, and if so, to stand to your feet. I shot up out of my seat and raised my hand high. I didn’t care if anyone looked at me or saw me, the pastor’s wife, standing up. I just knew I had a problem with intimidation and had to overcome it. After we stood up, he made us shout out loud, really loud, from the depths of our being. It was so freeing, and so much healing took place that night.
Do you ever feel intimidated by someone or something that God is calling you to do? To hide feelings of intimidation, we often try to appear cool as if we have it all together. We aren’t exactly sure what “having it all together” looks like, but we just don’t want anyone to know how intimidated we are. God wants you to wake up and experience a shift inside your spirit. Because of God’s grace, He has given you the ability to go beyond your ability. Not only that, God has empowered you to serve God acceptably.
God wants you to live an extraordinary life, but that means you need to respond whenever you are moved by the Spirit. To overcome intimidation, it means that you stand to your feet regardless of what anyone thinks and get out of the box that you have created for yourself. By welcoming the Holy Spirit’s presence into your life, you will begin to hear God’s voice more clearly - truths that you have never heard before piercing through the marrow of your bones.
Don’t allow intimidation to keep you from doing what God wants you do or keep you from going where God wants you to go. God wants to do something great in your life, but you must be in a position to get ready. What does your next season look like? God wants you to overcome intimidation so that you are ready and can anticipate all that God has in store for you in your future.
