Unplugged

DAY 10 OF 15

Rest is important! When God says that rest is found in him, he means that rest is found in him. Translation: real rest is found nowhere else.

Have you ever taken a “break” that didn’t really feel like a break?  You know, one of those ‘procrastinate on homework so I can relax but then I end up doing a bunch of chores for my parents so it wasn’t really a true ‘break’ kind of moments?  That’s because we fill our lives with agendas — whether it’s breaking from homework or taking a vacation, we fill up every moment with something — so much so that at times we feel like we need a break from our breaks. Instead of getting away from our routine we just end up swapping our normal routine out for a new one! That’s because we don’t really love to rest. We are much better at entertaining ourselves than we are with resting.

That’s a huge problem!  We need to recognize that restfulness is tethered to the state of our souls. Jesus invites us to give Him every ounce of anxiety and stress we have. He wants us to let HIM handle it. As you read these verses today think about your habits of rest. Remember that rest is not just sleeping. It’s meant to be a time of relaxation and disconnection from the things that stress you out.

What things can you do in your life to help you rest more and rest better?

About this Plan

Unplugged

Life is moving at an incredibly fast pace. It can be hard, in the midst of all the things we have going on, to find time to connect with God in meaningful ways. “Unplugged” will challenge you to evaluate your habits with technology and busyness, and encourage you to pursue moments of solitude – times to connect between you and Jesus.
