Wild Life—Start Really Livingنموونە
What Is Success?
I was 50 years old, making minimum wage, and I had lost everything financially. If you measure success the way most men measure success, I was failing. I had lived a lifestyle of credit spending, and it more than caught up with me.
Moments like these are so important. I think we talk a lot about success, but not enough about failure. What if we saw failure not as a hindrance to success, or lack thereof, but as a step toward true success? That place where it’s sometimes easier to hear God speak to us.
Up until this point, I had viewed success as a monetary destination. Don’t get me wrong, the way we manage our finances is important to God. But there is more to life than money. In what felt like my lowest point, God began to show me what true success looks like. I had a beautiful wife and three amazing daughters who were passionate about Jesus.
I was doing something right.
Also, God showed me that my behavior with money was rooted in insecurities from my past. God turned my low point into a high point that gave me new perspective and better habits.
Chances are pretty good that you’re in a battle right now, you’ve taken some serious hits throughout your life, or both. Can I encourage you? Failure is inevitable. Avoiding it sometimes increases it. But true success is available when our failures open our eyes and ears to God’s truth and direction for our lives.
