Treasures From God: Devotions From Time of Graceنموونە
My children are my treasures
Dear Lord, thank you for my children. I know I don’t thank you enough. They are miracles of your design, and they have brought incredible joy and delight into my life. How blessed I am to be their gateway into the world!
I grumble too much about the strain and cost and work involved in raising children. Lord Jesus, you sacrificed so much for me--it is a privilege to worship you by being willing to sacrifice for my children. They are worth everything I have invested in them. Forgive my irritability, self-centeredness, and blindness. Help me stay patient, sweet-tempered, and full of praise. Give me the grace to let them develop according to the way you designed them, not as props in my personal fantasies.
Your Word reminds me, “Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3). In my better moments I do feel rewarded. They have changed me, and most of those changes are for the better. Open my heart and mind to embrace what they bring.
Lord Jesus, bless and protect them. Let all the skills and talents and aptitudes you built into them emerge. Let them be useful to you, for your agenda, for your glory. I am proud of them; I am grateful to you. My kids are my treasures.
