TURN IT AROUND
Some friends and I wrote the song “Turn It Around” after wildfires ravaged homes in Santa Rosa, California, just miles from where I live. Several members of our church lost everything in these fires.
The devastation of the wildfires made me think of all the times fire was used as a symbol throughout the Bible. God called down fire from heaven to prove His power. He spoke to Moses through a burning bush. He appeared with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in a fiery furnace.
Fire is often used as a metaphor to teach us a bigger lesson. Like flames that consume everything in their path, sometimes God uses difficult circumstances in our lives to burn away all of the areas that don’t honor Him. But what happens when we can’t see through the flames? What happens when the heat gets turned up, and the sting of the burn is too great to bear?
The reality is, when life heats up, we quickly find out what we’re made of. We find out what we truly believe. We find out what’s most important. Sometimes a fire is all we need.
But a fire always leaves us with a choice. Who do we see in the fire? Who do we trust in the fire? Who do we praise in the fire?
The prophet Isaiah writes, “See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction” (Isaiah 48:10, NIV).
Our God doesn’t just want to refine us through the fire; He wants to make us a new creation. When we’re sitting in the midst of the charred rubble of our lives, He sits with us, already at work on a completely new chapter. The burning is only a building block for what He’s doing in our lives. There’s nothing He can’t turn around.
I trust You in the fire / Trust You in the flames / Trust You when the promise burns away / I trust You in the dark / Trust You when it’s hard / Trust You when my whole world falls apart
May we ask God to burn away anything in our lives that doesn’t look like Him.

About this Plan
Our God is the God of the impossible! He is always at work, looking for opportunities to perform miracles. I’ve found this to be true in my own life, so I wrote some songs about God doing the impossible. This devotional series centers around seven songs from my album, God of the Impossible . I hope you walk away from this devo series refreshed and expectant, trusting in the unwavering faithfulness of God. Believing the impossible - Lincoln Brewster
