A Moment With Godنموونە
COME, LET US WORSHIP
There is a Call to worship. There is also a warning. Five times he calls us.
- v1 - let us sing
- v2 - let us come
- v2 - let us shout joyfully
- v6 - let us worship and bow down
- v6 - let us kneel
CALL TO WORSHIP
- Worship reveals our understanding of who God is. Rock of my Salvation. Great God. Great King. God who is in control. Our understanding of God no longer brings reverence in people. It has become a ritual from our lips, rather than a real experience. The Psalmist wants us to remember that every time we worship we reveal to others how much we understand God.
- Worship reveals our personal relationship with God. Our Maker. Our God. His people. He cares. It reveals to the people around us that this great God is our personal God. He talks about a community of people who worship, who unite our hearts together and in that we say: Lord, you are ours. We are your people. We are chosen. We don't say something for the sake of saying. Worship becomes our heart experience.
- Worship is not a private affair. Our whole being is involved in worship - our emotions, our will and our heart. We can worship God quietly. There is a place for private worship. But, our life itself becomes a life of worship. It is visible for others to see that the reason for our worship is the Lord. He is the life-giver in the way we worship.
A WARNING
It looks as if the Psalmist throws cold water on a celebration of praise. He wants us to be careful that our worship is not in vain. He talks about people who know him, who are called by his name, who have experienced Him. We need to be careful. v8. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart.
The hindrances to a meaningful worship is an unsurrendered heart and an unbelieving heart. The Lord is pleased with a heart that has submitted to Him totally and a heart of faith. Let us believe that He is our God. That we are His people. That He cares for us. That He is a great God.
Worship is possible with our emotions and our heart but true worship is giving our all to Him and bowing before Him with a heart of trust and obedience.
Is our worship a ritual or does it come out of a deep relationship with my loving Creator, my God, my Saviour, my fortress? Have we surrendered our hearts to the Lord? Do we believe in Him totally? Let the Lord see our heart of worship and be pleased.
A life of worship will always help others to see the life giver in us.
