Week 7: Unbreakable Promises. Unshakable Hope
God's Promise: "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." (Hebrews 6:19 NIV)
My Promise: I will anchor my soul to the hope of Christ.
You have a soul. When God breathed into Adam, he gave him more than oxygen; he gave him an eternal being. This inward presence is the soul of man. Because of your soul, you wonder why you are here. Because of your soul, you wonder where you are going. Because of your soul, you wrestle with right and wrong, you value the lives of others and you get choked up at the singing of the national anthem and teary-eyed at the sight of your baby. Goldfish don’t do these things. The soul is that part of you that separates you from animals and unites you to God. And that soul needs an anchor. Your soul is fragile. It feels the pain of death and knows the questions of disease. Hence, your soul needs an anchor, a hooking point that is sturdier than the storm. Your anchor is Jesus Christ firmly on his throne.
Unshakable Hope Declaration
We are building our lives on the promises of God. Because his Word is unbreakable, our hope is unshakable. We do not stand on the problems of life or the pain in life. We stand on the great and precious promises of God.
