God's Grace

DAY 4 OF 11

Say this sentence out loud: Jesus makes me God’s friend when I choose to follow Him.

Think about Easter. What is your favorite thing about it? Is it the Easter baskets? The Easter egg hunts? The candy? Spending time with family?

All those things are fun, but that isn't the real reason we celebrate Easter. We celebrate Easter to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross.

Remember how Jesus took the punishment for our sin? He did that by dying on a cross. You see, the consequence for our sin was separation from God. God loves us so much that He didn’t want us to be separated from Him. He made a way for us to be with Him forever.

For that to happen, though, someone had to take the consequence for our sin. Jesus did that. He took our sins, so He was the one separated from God, and He died on the cross. But the story doesn’t end there. Three days after He died, Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus fought against sin and death and won! When He did that, He made a way for us to be friends with God again. That’s why you can say, “Jesus makes me God’s friend when I choose to follow Him.”

Talk It Over:

What is your favorite thing about Easter?

What is one way you can celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection on Easter?
