God's Grace

DAY 11 OF 11

The Bible tells us that before we follow Jesus, we are a slave to sin. That means sin controls us. It’s stronger than us. But the moment we choose to follow Jesus, God gives us a helper, His Holy Spirit. He gives us the power to say no to sin and to live God’s way.

Even though we are stronger than sin when we choose to follow Jesus, we will still be tempted to sin. But the Holy Spirit lives in us, teaches us God’s way, leads us to do the right thing, and gives us the power to say “No!” to sin, and “Yes!” to God’s way.

Watch the video, then use the Bible verse Galatians 5:16 to make a Bible Sword. It will help you remember that you don’t have to fight sin alone—you have the Holy Spirit on your side!

Bible Sword

1. Get a piece of paper and something to write with.

2. Draw a huge sword on the paper.

3. Write all the words from Galatians 5:16 on the sword.

4. Put the sword up somewhere you can see it every day.

5. Practice saying Galatians 5:16 each time you see the sword.

Talk It Over:

What are some sins the Holy Spirit’s power can help you say, “No!” to?

What makes you excited about the power of God’s Holy Spirit?

When do you think you will need the power of God’s Holy Spirit the most?
