Five-Year Plans
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
PROVERBS 16:9 ESV
"Where do you see yourself in five years?" No matter your age or life stage, you’ve probably heard this question quite a few times. Especially as single women, it can be difficult to map out a five-year plan that doesn’t feel like you are expecting too much or too little but also takes your desires and dreams into account. As today’s verse in Proverbs tells us, the Lord will establish our steps and make clear His plan for our lives. Not only is this a good plan, but it is also a glorious and beautiful life that is far beyond what you could ask or imagine (see Ephesians 3:20). Here’s what it comes down to, it’s okay for you to be a little fuzzy on your ideal plan for your life because the Lord’s vision for you is crystal clear. Isn’t it exciting that you are along for the journey?
When looking into your future, you will experience the most peace when you trust your unknown future to a known God. We know that God loves us more than we can even fathom and we know that He has mapped out our lives with love and care. Instead of worrying about what this next year, five years or ten years could look like, why not reframe it to see that God has you on an adventure that is all your own? Isn’t it exciting to see the unveiling of what He has planned for you? The next time someone asks you about your five-year plan, don’t be afraid to dream. God knows no boundaries, and He is with you, so there’s nothing out of the realm of possibilities.
Right Now Reminder:
God has BIG plans for you so don’t be afraid to dream. You don’t have to figure out how He is going to do it, just trust Him in each next step.
