6 Prayers for Engaged Couples Mostra
Protection
There is an unseen battle going on every day. We have a spiritual enemy who hates marriage. He knows our weaknesses. He knows our vulnerabilities. We also have a God who strengthens us and protects us from this evil.
In the early years of our marriage, we had no idea that this enemy was wreaking havoc on our marriage. He cast doubt over our marriage to the point that Nancy was questioning her love for me. Our arguments became more often and more intense. The enemy was throwing us the bait, and we were gobbling it up. Then, an interesting thing happened. God brought a godly older woman into Nancy’s life to mentor her. Through the wisdom God gave this woman, the enemy's lies were exposed. It was a turning point for our marriage. We began to understand that as a Christian couple the enemy was attacking us and that we could fight back.
Never let the enemy get a foothold in your marriage. Pray daily for God to protect each of you and your marriage from the enemy’s lies. He is faithful and will protect you from the evil one. Never forget who is stronger. As 1 John 4 tells us, “the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” Never forget who ultimately wins. Never forget that He who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
Prayer:
Father, we praise and thank You that Your Spirit is far greater than the spirit of the world. Protect us from the enemy of our souls. Defend us and our relationship from satan and his attacks. We ask that You will strengthen and protect us. Secure us from his lies. Help us to fight the spiritual battles within us and around us. Amen!
